Skate Canada Challenge Returning To Winnipeg, Manitoba

Start the countdown!

The 2023/2024 Skate Canada Challenge will be gliding into Winnipeg, Manitoba from November 30th to December 3rd, 2023. Junior and Senior skaters will converge at the Seven Oaks arena for five days of high-flying, high-speed competition.

Skaters are competing in singles, pairs, and ice dance, vying for personal bests, placings, and podium spots to advance to the 2024 Canadian National Skating Championships in Calgary, Alberta from January 8th to 14th, 2024.

Skaters advancing from nationals will go toe pick-to-toe pick at the ISU 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal, Quebec.

A handful of competitors have accepted byes for Canadians, choosing to bypass Winnipeg. Without factoring in byes – the top 18 men, 18 women, 15 ice dance, and 12 pairs would advance from Skate Canada Challenge to the Nationals.

It’s an exciting time for skaters and the skating community as it’s two years out of an Olympic season. Skate Canada Challenge will feature some of the best skaters in our country, some who’ll represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

This marks the second consecutive year Winnipeg will host Challenge, Skate Canada’s second largest national competitive event. Prior to 2022, the last Skate Canada competition in Winnipeg was the 2001 Canadian National Skating Championships.
